one month checkup.

No pictures right now-just trying to write before CJ wakes up! We just got back from his one month checkup (although he's 5.5 weeks old) and whoa. He's 10 lbs 3 oz (after 6.12 at birth!) and 22 inches long (huge leap from last appt apparently) and his head is 16 cm round, I guess 90th percentile! Go big guy! So far so good, and the dr. said he's actually ahead of schedule psychologically, whatever that means. :o)

Bathtime

After work one night, Dave, CJ and I watched a whodunit show. I think Dave enjoyed it more than anyone else.

I think the soap washed all the brown out of his hair. I know it was just the light, but C.J.'s hair looked definitely red after this bath!

And a still picture in case there's no time for the video!

And another one of my boys sleeping. It's just precious!

Hanging with the cousins

So we took a quick family road trip (including the dog!) to Houston to see family and introduce CJ and all that jazz. Quick, exhausting, but very much worth it. Here are some pictures of the events!

The girls took turns holding baby CJ. Helen takes to it naturally! A bit of experience helps. I just think this is a beautiful picture of her!

Judith took her turn too. Of course, very capable.
And Moire, of course. The Oldest and the youngest (for now!)

All the cousins minus Aidan (and two more this year!) Tried to cut Mol out, but George would have none of it. As Mom said, we might be destined to photoshop from now on! Blessings of a large family!

So Gail and Karch came by with baby Natalie. I finally got to meet Casey's daughter! Too bad Casey couldn't be there. It was a whirlwind of a trip, though!

Natalie is about 7 months in this picture-6 months older than CJ. Hopefully they'll be friends, too!

Moire and Tito had way too much fun making bread. ;o) There sure was a lot of it, after quadrupling the recipe to make enough for everyone.

Maria loved seeing Veggietales on Dave's phone. What a great icebreaker!

Erin and CJ. Looking good!

What a natural!

Oops...Duplicate.

Gus decided to teach Mark how to box. It was quite entertaining, hearing the offensive and defensive strategies! Gotta love the scapular hanging down during the boxing match. You know they're in good hands!

Aonghus and Judith loved playing with little CJ.

Aonghus sure is a proud cousin. CJ loves looking at him-holding him so well, of course!

What a handsome guy!

I'm sorry we didn't get to see everyone, but it was a nice trip nonetheless. With family all over the place and jobs to keep up with, it will be difficult to keep up, but definitely worth it!

Short moments and mosquitos

So I didn't think Dave could hate mosquitos any more than he already does, but he just about had it when he saw one on CJ's eyelid! I found it quite endearing. My sweet husband works so hard for us and cares so much for his son!

Ok. So I'll try to put up some new pictures-just 3, but its something.

The second bread bowl weighing. I think he's getting suspicious of us.

I'm learning this whole blog thing, little by little. So exciting!

adventures..

So I was enjoying a rare day of cuddling with CJ lots as he fell asleep on me. Woke up, and all at once Jeeves was barfing and CJ was screaming his head off because he was hungry. Tried to stay patient and not let it ruin the day, but of course its crazy how eveything descending at once can make it seem that way.

Don't worry-I won't put pictures of that up. :o)

look out-two in one day!

The little fuss pot is quiet for a moment.

My boys

So I know all the pics and everything are of Dave and CJ, but I can't help it-I love watching them together! I keep thinking about how God designed children to enter families-a husband and wife together, cuz this kid thing aint easy! Speaking of, duty calls!

Oh yeah, by the way this is Dave teaching CJ to like sports. :o) well, to watch them anyway.

Time...

As I lay awake last night, I was trying to think of a creative title for my next post. Actually that's not why I was awake last night. :o) Anyway, even as I'm writing this my sleeping son is making waking up noises. We'll see how long this lasts. He usually takes a while to wake up.

So, without further ado, (sp?) CJ-Charles Joseph- was born July 15 at 11:23 am. He weighed 6lbs 12 oz, and was 19.25 inches long. He's already gained a pound and an inch since then-so long newborn clothes!

Here's a picture, if I can get it uploaded...

He was 10 days old in that picture-seems so long ago. He was so small! And yes, we weighed him in a bowl, on a baking scale. I think he was 7.6, just for the record. :o)

OK. Now CJ is sort of cooperating, so let's try for some other favorites!

And a video if I can manage it.

So that's it for now. Hopefully later I'll be able to write about the so many profound thoughts I've had the last couple of weeks!
